MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry and Introduction to Proteomics

Courses:

To provide quick-start training in the proteomics arena, the DNA/Protein Facility continues to offer its workshop "MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry and Introduction to Proteomics." Lectures introduce participants to the full spectrum of technologies and strategies. Hands-on exercises teach participants to operate OSU's MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer, to manipulate and interpret mass spectra, to perform protein trypsinolysis, and to use this technology to ID unknown proteins via data-base searching. Several sessions of this popular workshop will be conducted in the summer of 2005. Investigators and students are urged to contact Agricultural Conferences Services to register, or contact Steve Hartson to learn more.

Complementary techniques are avaible to study the "transcriptome." For these efforts, microarrays remain the tool of choice for high-throughput characterizations. In the summer of 2005, OSU's Microarray Facility will again offer its popular entry-level hands-on workshop in this technology. For more information, visit the Microarray Core Facility's website .
